Baton Rouge, LA- Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will hold its 15th Annual Commencement Exercises on Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m., in the Bonne Santé Wellness Center, 201 Community College Drive. More than 350 associate, technical, and terminal degrees will be awarded. Dr. Christel C. Slaughter will deliver the keynote address.

Slaughter is a partner and a co-owner of SSA Consultants, a management consulting and organizational development firm. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Slaughter earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing, and received her doctorate at the age of 25 from the College of Business at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Systems Management and Organizational Design.  While at LSU, she was named to the Academy of Management Doctoral Consortium with the top 35 doctoral students in the nation.  At the time of her graduation she had published 20 articles and cases and presented her dissertation research at the London School of Economics.

Slaughter joined SSA Consultants in 1983 after spending seven years as a faculty member at LSU.  Since then, she has been instrumental in guiding and implementing strategic direction for hundreds of organizations, both regionally and nationwide.

Her expertise is rooted in change management, performance improvement, strategic planning, training design and delivery, facilitation services, executive coaching and counseling, and organizational assessment.  Additionally, she has helped numerous Boards of Directors, executive management teams, and nonprofit leadership committees with training and facilitated group sessions involving leadership training, team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution.

Some of her work includes guiding the cultural and organizational transformation of a publicly-traded community bank, designing and implementing an award-winning customer service program for a large healthcare institution, developing and conducting a diversity awareness program for a multi-national chemical plant, and designing integration strategies for the state of Louisiana's multi-billion dollar coastal protection and restoration efforts.

She has also worked heavily in Louisiana's public school systems including East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and West Feliciana.
