What Should I Wear?
All graduates will wear regalia along with the collar on the robe. We suggest that you wear an appropriate seasonal outfit, keeping in mind the weather on the day and that the gowns can be quite warm. Suitable attire includes:
Nice shirt (preferably white collars)
Dark dress boots or shoes
Dark dress (you will need to negotiate stairs and stand for periods of time- be mindful of heel height)
*We suggest ladies bring safety pins to secure the detachable collar and bobby pins to secure your cap.
Jeans, tennis shoes, work boots, flip flops and shorts.
The appropriate cap for graduates is the familiar black "mortarboard." The mortarboard is worn straight on the heard with the point of the cap in the center of the forehead. The tassel should hang to the left of the face.
When Should I Arrive?
Graduates must arrive in cap and gown promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014. Family and friends will not be permitted to enter the assembly area. Staff members will be available to help direct graduates to the appropriate line-up areas as well as to direct family and friends to seating areas.
No balloons, posters, air horns, or other party material will be allowed in the arena. You will not be permitted to bring cell phones or purses into the arena. Please leave these items in your locked vehicle or with someone in the audience.
Where Can I Purchaset My Cap and Gown?
Orders for caps and gowns can be placed in the BRCC Bookstore, located on the Mid City Campus. The cost is $34.87. If your gown is wrinkled, it is suggested that you steam your gown the day before the ceremony.
