BRCC Welcomes New Acting Chancellor

Dr. Dennis F. Michaelis

Starting July 20, Dr. Dennis F. Michaelis will assume the role of acting chancellor for Baton Rouge Community College.  The Board of Supervisors for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System made the appointment on June 30, following System President Monty Sullivan's recommendation to the Board during a Special Executive Committee Meeting. Effective September 1, Dr. Michaelis will move into the interim chancellor position.

First Time Student A freshman is a first-time student who has never attended college.  
Transfer Student A transfer student is a student who has been previously enrolled at any college or university.  
Returning Student Returning students have previously attended BRCC, but did not attend during the immediate prior semester.  
Visiting Student A student who is attending another institution but wishes to take courses for one term.  This student type is not eligible for Financial Aid.
Non-Matriculating Student A student wishing to enroll in all courses and receive no credit. This student type is not eligible for Financial Aid.  
Dual Enrollment/High School Students A student that can is admitted to BRCC while simultaneously continuing with their high school education.
International Student Students who are enrolled for credit at an accredited higher education institution in the U.S. on a temporary visa, and are not immigrants (permanent resident with an I-51 or Green Card), or are an undocumented immigrant, or a refugee.  
Cross Enrolled Student Students that register for pre-approved courses at Louisiana State University (LSU), Southeastern Louisiana University or Southern University while concurrently enrolled at BRCC.
Continuing Education Student Students that desire to develop or refresh work skills, obtain career advancement, earn an industry certification or enroll in leisure courses.
