BRCC to host informational sessions for HiSet

Baton Rouge Community College will host several informational sessions  for two upcoming program specific HiSet (HiSET, formerly the GED®) courses and an adult education class. HiSet courses are offered through the WorkReady U program at BRCC.

On Wednesday, Oct. 11 and Thursday, Oct. 12, informational sessions will be held for the seven week course beginning Oct. 16 covering HiSet completion with a focus on technical programs. The course, titled Pursuing your Path - Technical Studies, is designed to provide students who are interested in technical programs and are working on their Hiset, with six hours of college credit and assistance progressing toward Hiset completion. Both informational sessions will be held at 5:30 p.m. in room 147 at BRCC's Acadian site, 3250 N. Acadian Thruway East. Classes will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

On Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, informational sessions are scheduled for the upcoming Adult Education Class to be held at BRCC's Central site, 10700 Hooper Road, Central. The course, which is scheduled to begin on Oct. 30 and will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, is designed for adults who do not have high school diplomas or those who are seeking to improve basic skills in courses such as mathematics. Both informational sessions will be at 5:30 p.m. in room 107 at BRCC Central.

Informational sessions for the upcoming course, Pursuing Your Path - Health Sciences, will be held on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10. The program is slated to begin on Nov. 27 with HiSet prep and college coursework in January. Like the technical studies program, this course is designed for students who are working on their HiSet, however the focus is on those looking to pursue work in health sciences. By course completion, students can earn six college credit hours. Time and location for the courses will be announced at a later date.
