PLAQUEMINE, LA – Baton Rouge Community College's Plaquemine site is now enrolling students for electrical and welding classes.
Electrical Level 1
The Electrical Level 1 course that begins on March 21 and ends on Oct. 10 will be held at the BRCC Plaquemine site on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The course, which will be taught through classroom instruction and hands-on training, utilizes the construction industry designed National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curricula.
The total cost is $250, which includes the textbook.
The summer one-month welding class, to begin May 29 and run through June 29, will be held in the training lab at Plaquemine High School. Classes will run Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Trainees will be taught the fundamental skill sets needed to show mastery in AWS welding applications, and will be exposed to stick welding, MIG and TIG based on their ability level. Those who show mastery in required skill sets will be referred to weld testing labs for AWS certifications.
The class consists primarily of hands-on training. The total cost for the summer Welding program is $550.
