Admission Criteria

Program applicants must meet or exceed the following placement scores:

Math 242 (QAS) Math 46 (Elem. Alg.) 15 421 47 (COPA) Completion of MATH 0098 with a C or better 
English 225 (Writing) English 60 (Sent. Skills) 14 21 38  (COEN) Completion of SPRW 0093 with a C or better

ACCUPLACER and Compass Test scores must be no older than 3 years and ACT test scores no older than 5 years at the time of admission into the program.

Application Process

Students must be admitted to Baton Rouge Community College with eligibility to enroll in technical courses. Applicants must have a high school diploma from a regionally accredited institution or a General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Students admitted to the Pharmacy Technician program will received additional instructions regarding program requirements that include but are not limited to submission of a TB skin test and urine drug screen. A positive urine drug screen or any attempt to tamper with a specimen may disqualify an applicant and/or result in dismissal from the program. Costs for all requirements are borne by the student. Students are currently admitted once per year; the first semester courses are offered in the fall semester. The program is offered at the Port Allen Site Only; 3233 Rosedale Road, Port Allen, LA 70767.

Students admitted to the Pharmacy Technician program will receive additional instructions regarding program requirements. Additional requirements for students admitted to the program include but are not limited to:
*Submission of personal health history
*Submission of a physical examination
*TB skin test
*Various immunizations/vaccinations
*Urine drug screen
*CPR certification 
*State Criminal Background Check

Background Check

Students must successfully pass a state criminal background check AND drug screen at the student's expense PRIOR to admission into program. Students will be subject to random drug screens throughout the program as needed, at the student's expense.
