Baton Rouge Community College officially released its five-year strategic plan to the community, outlining the institution’s goals from 2023 to 2028. Developed through an extensive collaborative effort, the plan is designed to enhance four key areas for the college. Those areas are Student Success, Employee Success, Financial and Operational Sustainability, and Quality Communication. The release of the plan coincides with the start of the academic year and the college’s 25th anniversary that will be celebrated with the local community.
“This Five-Year Strategic Plan reflects the collective dedication and forward-thinking mindset of our entire BRCC community,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “We remain committed to our mission of being the preferred provider of talent for a global marketplace, and this plan will provide the roadmap needed to chart our path and ensure our success as we contribute significantly to the economic progress of the Capital Region.”
The process to develop the comprehensive plan included 22 discovery sessions with staff, faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and business and community partners.
Overall, the new strategic plan reflects BRCC's commitment to providing the highest quality education, fostering community engagement, and cultivating a thriving learning environment for students and stakeholders alike. With the input of various stakeholders, BRCC has crafted a plan that aligns with the evolving needs of the Baton Rouge community and beyond.
“Collectively, we spent eight months gathering information, sharing ideas, and working to develop a strategic plan that will enhance the lives of every individual who steps foot on our campuses,” added Dr. Smith. “Our students will graduate and be able to provide for their families. Our employees will receive the best training and development to help them grow personally and professionally. Furthermore, we will continue to invest in innovative technology and creative learning, and develop training opportunities to be at the forefront of any community college in the nation.”
Of the four key areas in the strategic plan, Student Success will emphasize providing highly skilled training to serve market and industry demands. Also, to provide equitable solutions, access, and life-changing opportunities. Employee Success will focus on recruiting, professional development, empowering employees to share ideas, and working to create an inclusive, equitable, and engaging experience. Financial and Operational Sustainability will strategically invest in innovative and creative learning. In addition, it will allow for affordable, high-quality education and training opportunities. Finally, Quality Communication will ensure two-way information is cascaded across all units to share with internal and external stakeholders.
BRCC invites all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and business partners, to join in its implementation and contribute to the plan's success as the institution sets a course for innovation, growth, and enhanced educational experiences.
