Located on the second floor of the Magnolia Library, the BRCC Archives house the college's special and archival collections. The collections below are currently available for use by students, faculty, and staff.
Baton Rouge Community College Historical Collection
Includes materials published since the college's inception in 1997. The collection also includes the college's event and ceremony programs, events posters, newsletters, reports, copies of the college's original bylaws and founding documents, and various other college publications. A finding aid for this collection is available upon request at the Magnolia Library Public Services Desk.
Carville V. Earle Collection
An extensive collection of geography and anthropology materials. The collection includes more than 2,100 books, maps, journals, and manuscripts from the personal collection of Dr. Carville V. Earle, a renowned scholar and former chair of the LSU Department of Geography and Anthropology. The Earle Collection has been catalogued and can be searched through the BRCC Library's Online Catalog.
Government Documents
BRCC Librarians will assist you in locating most of the Government Documents you will need online. While we are not a depository and have no Government Documents in our collection, there is a Regional physical depository at Louisiana State University.
Louisiana Collection
Includes books and materials by authors who have presented book talks at BRCC, local writers, and local scholars. The Louisiana Collection has been catalogued and can be searched through the BRCC Library's Online Catalog.
Public Relations Office Publications Collection
Includes items issued by the college, such as course schedules, catalogs, and information sheets. BRCC-related news clippings from the Baton Rouge Advocate and the New Orleans Times Picayune are also included in the collection. A finding aid for this collection is available upon request at the Magnolia Library Public Services Desk.
Archives
Include important documents and materials that describe the history of the college and donated special collections. Because of this, items in the special and archival collections do not circulate and can only be viewed in the BRCC Archive reading room. The BRCC Archive is currently available for research by appointment only. Please contact the Magnolia Library at (225) 216-8555 to arrange an appointment time.
