Three Baton Rouge Community College employees were recently recognized for their achievements at the college during the annual Louisiana Community and Technical College Conference held in New Orleans on October 1-3.

This year’s BRCC award recipients were two staff members, LaKiesha London and John Warren, and faculty member David Simon. The individuals were selected based on their outstanding work and leadership, embodying the college’s spirit of excellence and dedication.

The LCTCS Annual Conference is a three-day event that brings together administrative, academic, and student leaders, faculty, and staff for all colleges in the LCTCS system for professional development, networking, compelling discussions, and an awards ceremony.

LaKiesha London serves as the Director of the Program for Successful Employment (PSE). London is strongly committed to supporting diverse educational opportunities and plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive learning environment. With over eight years of experience serving the community through various state and federal agencies, she demonstrates a strong commitment to public service and community engagement. In addition to her professional and academic achievements, London is a dedicated member of various committees and advisory councils, including overseeing the PSE Advisory Committee.

John Warren
John Warren

John Warren is the Director of Project Management and Technical Support at BRCC with over two decades of experience in information technology. Warren has established himself as a seasoned IT professional, dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in the tech industry. Throughout his career, he has leveraged his deep expertise in systems architecture and project management to deliver robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of the college.

David Simon
David Simon

David Simon is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and teaches algebra, trigonometry, statistics, and calculus. Simon is constantly thinking of new and innovative ways to enhance the educational experience for students at the college. This involves integrating more technology into his lectures, experimenting with different methods to keep students engaged, collaborating with colleagues to create discussion groups and workshops, and attending conferences. Additionally, he has launched a YouTube channel called "Simon Says Math," featuring over 160 videos of his lectures and reviews.
