There are also additional scholarship funds available to help with any testing or supply fees related to taking a high school equivalency exam, such as HiSET or GED.
If you are 19 years of age or older you are eligible to take the HiSET® or GED® exam without providing any additional documentation.
If you are under the age of 19 and you need to earn your high school equivalency, then you do need to meet some additional qualifications.
You must be at least 16 years of age to take either the HiSET® or GED® exam, and if between the ages of 16-18 you must provide all of the following additional documentation to be eligible to test:
- Enrollment in and/or authorization by an approved WorkReady U (WRU) program.
- Enrollment in a state-recognized LA "Options" program within the K–12 system and the required testing authorization.
- HiSET® or GED® Official Practice Test for Educators administered by WorkReady U (WRU) program with state qualifying scores (Prepared or Well-Prepared).
Currently we offer online, real time classes during the day and in the evening. This means your instructor is teaching in real time, and you are joining a virtual classroom through Zoom.
We also offer asynchronous online classes which means you have pre-recorded teaching sessions and online content to complete, but no real time, live lectures from your instructor.
We enroll students throughout the year and our classes last for 8-weeks, but you don't have to stop attending after that time if you are still working on the skills you need, or your high school equivalency. If you finish sooner, that's great too!
Most students participate in class work at least 3-9 hours per week - the more class time you attend, the closer you are to your goal!
(Note: The original text mentions "Download our current class schedule...". You would need to replace this with an actual link or remove it if a PDF isn't available.)
View Class Schedule (Example)Once you complete an application to our program (you'll need to set up an email account like Gmail, offered by Google, if you haven’t already), you will be contacted to schedule an intake and orientation meeting so we can find out more about your goals, needs, and how we can serve you best.
Then there will be an assessment to take but it's NOT a pass or fail test. This assessment tells us where your skills are right now so we can customize your learning plan to give you the instruction and preparation you need to be successful.
