BRCC’s TRIO Programs and JAG at LASAP TRIO Day
Celebrating academic success and career readiness with the New Orleans Pelicans

Baton Rouge Community College’s (BRCC) TRIO Programs, including Upward Bound and the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), along with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), recently participated in the Louisiana Association of Student Assistance Programs (LASAP) TRIO Day celebration in partnership with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Sixty BRCC students attended this exciting event, engaging in pre-collegiate and collegiate discussions focused on academic success and career readiness. Students also had the opportunity to visit and explore several colleges and career pathways, gaining valuable insight into future educational and professional opportunities.

In addition to academics and career-focused activities, BRCC students enjoyed exclusive courtside pregame and tunnel experiences with the New Orleans Pelicans. They received VIP seating in the HUB, offering an incredible view of the game along with all-access privileges, making the experience both educational and unforgettable.
About LASAP and TRIO Programs in Louisiana
The Louisiana Association of Student Assistance Programs (LASAP) supports TRIO Programs across the state, providing essential services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO Programs are federally funded initiatives designed to assist first-generation college students, low-income individuals, and students with disabilities in accessing and succeeding in higher education. These programs include Upward Bound, Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC), Talent Search, Student Support Services, and the McNair Scholars Program.
Hosted at colleges, universities, and nonprofit agencies across Louisiana, TRIO Programs serve over 21,000 low-income and first-generation students statewide. LASAP enhances educational opportunities by advocating for TRIO students and ensuring they receive the support and resources needed to achieve academic success. Through events like TRIO Day, students gain real-world college and career exposure, mentorship, and networking opportunities that empower them to pursue higher education and career advancement.
BRCC’s TRIO Programs and JAG program remain committed to empowering students through education, enrichment, and experiential learning to prepare them for success in college and beyond.
