Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) announces its 2nd Annual Community Leadership Summit scheduled for Thursday, September 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the  Louisiana Building, Boardroom on the Mid City Campus, 201 Community College Dr. The event will feature keynote speaker Mr. Bill Whittle who serves as the Senior National Sales Director, Primerica along with guest speakers Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and closing comments by Ret. Army Lt. General Russel L. Honoré. The panelists for the summit include, Dr. Willie E. Smith, BRCC Chancellor; Susana “Susie” Schowen, Secretary of LA Workforce Commission; T.J. Morse, Chief, Baton Rouge Police Department; Logan Austin, Chief Operating Officer at Our Lady of the Lake Health and Tyler Litt, President, National Urban League Young Professionals. The event will be moderated by Clay Young, Owner of Clay Young Enterprises.

The Summit aims to spark discussions on the pressing needs of employment, education, health and wellness, and criminal/social justice and the convening will serve as an opportunity to unify the local community by sharing current work occurring within these areas. This event is free and open to the public. Members of the community along with leaders from educational institutions, non-profit organizations, local businesses, and faith-based organizations are encouraged to attend. The Summit will also host a voter registration drive led by the Nu Gamma Omega Chapter of AKA from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

BRCC aims to provide a platform for gathering individuals and key leaders who want to lend their talents to transform Baton Rouge.  In addition, the summit will provide awareness of educational pathways available at BRCC.
