Abbigale Ardoin is a shining example of student leadership at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC). Now serving as President of the Student Government Association (SGA), Ardoin's dedication to helping others fuels her ambition for a future that will leave a lasting impact on individuals and communities alike. Her role as SGA President, however, is just the beginning of her impressive journey, both at BRCC and beyond.
One of Ardoin’s primary goals as SGA President is to inspire other students to step into leadership roles. She believes the SGA plays an important role in creating meaningful change for the student body and encourages students to get involved.

“I encourage everyone at BRCC, if you want to be a student leader or have a goal to be in politics one day, please run for a position on the SGA," said Ardoin. "We need Senators at every campus to get a better feel for what’s going on."
Her call for student participation stems from a genuine desire to connect with peers and help empower their voices. With Fall Fest on the horizon in October, Ardoin is eager to meet as many students as possible and spread the word about the upcoming Spring Elections. Her goal is to develop a more engaged student body by encouraging students to run for SGA positions and take an active role in shaping their campus experience.
"We want students to be more involved with the SGA," Ardoin emphasized. "There's so much that we can do to create more opportunities for students when we come together. Let's make a difference in the lives of our students here at BRCC."
Ardoin’s influence extends beyond BRCC. She was recently sworn in as one of the newest Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Student Board members. This role gives her a platform to advocate for students across the state, an opportunity she earned through an election by her peers during the Council of Student Body Presidents (COSBP) meeting.
"It is very rewarding to be on that (LCTCS) Board because we are making a big difference across Louisiana,” explained Ardoin.
The LCTCS Board consists of 17 members. Fifteen of the members are appointed by the Governor of the State of Louisiana, along with two student members. The Board develops policy for Louisiana’s 12 community and technical colleges that serve more than 120,000 students annually.
Her leadership isn’t confined to SGA and LCTCS, either. Ardoin is also active in the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, two organizations that further showcase her commitment to academic excellence and service.
As Ardoin prepares to graduate this summer and transfer to Southeastern Louisiana University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Education, her sights are set on a future that blends education and public service. She envisions herself teaching elementary school before transitioning into politics—a career path that combines her passion for making a difference with her love for helping others.
In her words and actions, Abbigale Ardoin continues to inspire those around her, proving that student leadership is about serving today, while also building a brighter tomorrow.
