


BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge Community College is celebrating creativity and “Art for the Soul” with four days of artist talks, film screenings, poetry readings, music and dance performances, interactive experiences and more during the 14th annual Arts Fest sponsored by CareSouth Medical and Dental and In Loving Arms Pediatric Day Health Center on March 30-April 2 at BRCC’s Mid City campus.
The local community is invited to attend Arts Fest XIV free of charge. The four-day event features guest speakers and artists including award-winning filmmakers and bestselling authors along with local creatives and community members who want to share their work and insights with students and the entire community.
All events are free, but some events require pre-registration.

Arts Fest XIV will begin March 30 with a kickoff showcase featuring live performances from a Dual-Enrollment partner high school marching band and the Winter Dance Company.
Willie Burton, two-time Academy Award winner for sound, will deliver a talk on how to make it in the entertainment industry on March 31. He worked on The Green Mile and Oppenheimer among many other films.
Day three on April 1 will feature former Louisiana poet laureate Julie Kane presenting a poetry reading and workshop as well as New York Times bestselling author Omar Tyree’s “Men in Fiction” workshop.
Multiple-time national poetry slam champion Sha’Condria “iCon” Sibley will present a multi-media poetry workshop and reading from her new poetry collection on April 2.
Many BRCC faculty members will lead interactive workshops and experiences to give the community hands-on experience with photography, filmmaking, professional sound installation and music history throughout the four-day event.
Arts Fest aims to inspire creativity, showcase emerging and established talent, and connect the community through the arts.
Parking will be available to the public throughout the Mid City campus.
