Baton Rouge Community College Rehires Abby Bolton as Head Softball Coach

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 7, 2025

Baton Rouge Community College is pleased to announce the return of Abby Bolton as the Head Softball Coach for the Lady Bears. Bolton previously led the program from 2018 to 2022, then spent three seasons as head softball coach at McPherson College in Kansas.

Bolton previously served as an assistant coach and head coach at Seward County Community College in Kansas. With her return to BRCC, Bolton brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the development of both student-athletes and the softball program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Bolton back to BRCC," said Brock Kantrow, Athletic Director. "Her previous contributions to our softball program were exceptional, and we are confident that her leadership and dedication will continue to guide our student-athletes toward future success."

During her first tenure at BRCC, Bolton successfully built a competitive team that emphasized not only athletic performance but also academic success and personal growth. Under her leadership, the Lady Bears achieved one of their best seasons in recent history, making significant strides in conference play and regional rankings. Bolton’s ability to recruit talented athletes, develop their skills, and foster a team-first mentality helped elevate the program’s reputation in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

"I’m so excited to be back at BRCC,” Bolton said. “I want to thank Brock Kantrow for giving me this opportunity, and I’m truly looking forward to working again with the incredible softball community here in Louisiana. There are so many talented coaches and players in the state, and I can’t wait to get started!"

A native of Colorado Springs, Col., Bolton holds degrees from Friends University and Seward County Community College. As a former collegiate athlete, she brings invaluable first-hand experience to her coaching philosophy, which revolves around hard work, accountability, and creating an environment where student-athletes thrive academically and athletically.

Bolton’s return marks an exciting new chapter for the Lady Bears as they prepare for the upcoming season. The program looks forward to building upon its past achievements while continuing to strive for excellence in all aspects of student-athlete development.
