Christopher Hill, BRCC STEM Student

BRCC is proud to announce that Christopher Hill, a dedicated student in the Division of Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), is one of only 59 students nationwide selected to participate in the highly competitive Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) 2025 Mini Semester Program. The weeklong program, funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science, will take place from January 6–10, 2025, at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York.

Hill's acceptance to the program highlights his academic excellence and passion for the STEM field. During the Mini Semester, he will engage with leading scientists, engineers, and technicians, gaining exposure to groundbreaking research and cutting-edge technology. Participants will also explore potential internship and research opportunities at BNL.

“This program is an extraordinary opportunity for Christopher and speaks to his hard work and determination,” said Raven Dora, Dean of the Division of STEM at BRCC. “Christopher’s participation positions him for future internships and demonstrates BRCC’s commitment to student success and identifying opportunities for our students to excel in STEM education and research.”

The WDTS Mini Semester Program introduces undergraduates to the DOE’s mission and the research initiatives at Brookhaven Lab through two distinct tracks: the Interdisciplinary Science Track and the Engineering/Technical Track. Hill will join 59 other undergraduate participants as they immerse themselves in collaborative learning and hands-on experiences, positioning themselves for future success in the STEM field.

“This opportunity means so much to me,” said Christopher Hill. “I’m excited to meet the incredible scientists and engineers at Brookhaven and learn from their expertise. Programs like this inspire me to push boundaries and explore all that STEM has to offer.”
