During the event, BRCC Chancellor Willie E. Smith Sr. and Loyola University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas A. Chambers ceremonially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a program for BRCC students to gain acceptance to Loyola Online’s Bachelor of Applied Science program through Loyola’s City College.

An online degree from Loyola’s City College is the same as any other Loyola degree – it’s only the delivery method that differs. Students can pick from two different specializations to tailor the degree to their own career goals.

“This 2+2 transfer program gives BRCC students a direct pathway to a high-quality bachelor’s degree from Loyola in a way that is affordable and flexible,” BRCC Chancellor Willie E. Smith Sr. said. “This is a way to meet our students where they are, and to offer a program that works for them. I want our students to know that their journey doesn’t end here at BRCC. We continue to connect them to future educational and employment opportunities, even after graduation.”

The transfer program recognizes and transfers all 60 credits of a BRCC Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree, or Associate of Applied Science degree to Loyola’s City College.

This is a one-of-a-kind transfer program at BRCC because it’s the first time BRCC students with an Associate of Applied Science degree have a clear transfer route with that degree.

“When students can continue their education without interruption, their momentum grows — and the benefits extend to their families, their communities, and the workforce here in Louisiana,” Loyola Provost Thomas A. Chambers said. “This partnership recognizes the strengths BRCC students bring and helps them advance in their chosen fields with confidence.”

BRCC graduates who make this transfer can enter Loyola’s Bachelor of Applied Science program with junior-level standing. This transfer program provides a direct pathway for BRCC graduates to obtain a more affordable and flexible bachelor’s degree online from Loyola University New Orleans.
