BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge Community College has announced the hiring of Jonathan Parker as the next Head Baseball Coach of the BRCC Bears.

Parker arrives at BRCC after helping lead one of the nation's premier junior college baseball programs at Jones College. Serving as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, Parker played an integral role in guiding the Bobcats to a 41-18 record in 2026, an NJCAA Region 23 Championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series.

His hiring brings a proven winner, elite recruiter and respected player developer to a BRCC program committed to competing for championships and advancing student-athletes to the next level.

"Jonathan embodies everything we were looking for in the next leader of our baseball program," BRCC Athletic Director Brock Kantrow said. "He has been part of championship teams as both a player and coach, understands what it takes to build a winning culture, and has a proven track record of helping student-athletes reach their goals on the field, in the classroom and beyond. His passion for player development and commitment to excellence make him the right person to lead BRCC Baseball."

Parker's impact extends far beyond wins and losses. During the past four years, he helped advance 34 student-athletes to four-year institutions, including 19 players who earned opportunities at NCAA Division I programs. As Recruiting Coordinator, he built and maintained recruiting pipelines throughout the Southeast while helping Jones consistently compete among the nation's elite programs.

In addition to recruiting, Parker served as the Bobcats' hitting coach, catching coach and third base coach while utilizing advanced performance analytics and individualized development plans to maximize player growth. His reputation for developing complete student-athletes has made him one of the rising young coaches in junior college baseball.

Parker's championship mentality was forged during his playing career at Jones College, where he was the starting catcher on the program's first NJCAA National Championship team. He earned National Tournament MVP honors, was named to the All-Tournament Team and served as a two-year team captain.

A Louisiana native and former student-athlete at Southeastern Louisiana University, Parker understands the rich baseball tradition throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South. His regional recruiting ties and passion for developing young men both on and off the field position him well to elevate the Bears program.

"I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead BRCC Baseball," Parker said. "I want to thank Brock Kantrow and the entire BRCC administration for their belief in me and their vision for this program. BRCC is poised for success, and I am excited to build a culture centered on accountability, player development, academic success and championship-level expectations. Our goal is to create a program that develops outstanding student-athletes while competing for conference and regional championships year after year."

Parker inherits a BRCC program poised for growth and enters with a clear vision focused on recruiting high-character student-athletes, developing talent and establishing a culture built on discipline, toughness and sustained success.

With a history of winning championships, advancing players and building strong team cultures, Parker brings the experience, energy and leadership necessary to guide BRCC Baseball into its next chapter.
