BATON ROUGE – More than 150 students in the Baton Rouge Community College Division of Nursing & Allied Health will take part in pinning ceremonies Friday inside the Magnolia Theater on the Mid City campus.
More than 40 allied health students across diagnostic medical sonography, surgical technology, sterile processing and veterinary technology will be pinned at 10 a.m.
More than 50 BRCC students in practical nursing and medical assistant fields with be pinned in a ceremony starting at noon, and more than 80 students will be pinned as registered nursing graduates in the final ceremony at 2 p.m.
The first two ceremonies are open to students, their family members, faculty and staff.
The registered nursing pinning ceremony is open only to ticketed guests, so the ceremony will be live streamed on the official BRCC YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@MyBRCCTV.
The pinning ceremony is a time-honored tradition for healthcare professionals. Often more personally meaningful than the graduation ceremony, it signifies the official initiation into the nursing and allied health professions. The ceremony commemorates the completion of their coursework and clinicals at BRCC. Students graduating from the division this fall will earn degrees in nursing, sonography, surgical technology, practical nursing, or veterinary technology.
