The Plumbing Apprenticeship Program at BRCC is the First of Its Kind in the Capital Region

Baton Rouge Community College is proud to announce the start of the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program in partnership with the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association of Louisiana with enrollment open now for the Spring 2026 semester.

The BRCC Plumbing Apprenticeship Program is the first of its kind in the Capital Region, highlighting BRCC’s commitment to providing excellent value to our students, business and industry partners and the community.

Spots are still available for the program launch in Spring 2026. Anyone interested can visit https://mybrcc.edu/ for more information or contact BRCC Dean of Technical Education Heather Guidry by email at guidryh@mybrcc.edu.

The apprenticeship classroom hours will be held on BRCC’s Acadian campus beginning in January, and students will also utilize the new Capital City Construction Lab on the Mid City campus for hands-on training once the space is completed in early 2026.

Students have the option to begin on-the-job training hours with a journeyman plumber through the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association of Louisiana as early as January.

To complete the program, students must finish 222 classroom hours and 3,500 on-the-job training hours. The total cost to enroll in the BRCC Plumbing Apprenticeship Program from beginning to end is $1,500.

BRCC’s Plumbing Apprenticeship Program will lead to a high-wage, high-demand career as a plumber where the average pay in the capital area is $20-25/hour once the residential test is completed.
