On-Campus Resources & Support
BRCC Counseling and Accessibility Services
The counseling center is available to any student who would like to just talk through their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without reporting. If you are an employee, counseling services are available through the EAP Program.
Off-Campus Resources & Support
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) & Forensic Kits
A SANE nurse is a registered nurse with advanced training to provide comprehensive medical care and forensic evidence collection for survivors of sexual assault. A forensic kit (or sexual assault kit) is used to collect and preserve biological and physical evidence.
Important: Preserve Evidence
It is recommended that victims have a forensic kit done immediately or as soon as possible after an assault to best preserve evidence.
If possible, do not bathe, shower, or change clothing before the exam. This also allows you to receive medications that can help prevent unwanted pregnancy and the transmission of STDs/HIV.
