Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) and Funding Notice
After submitting your PSE application, families may contact Louisiana Rehabilitation Services at 225-295-8900 to discuss available services, eligibility, and possible supports.
Please note that BRCC PSE is currently working through updates related to LRS funding and vendorship. At this time, LRS is no longer funding PSE as the program is currently structured for new students unless the student already has an active Individualized Plan for Employment or prior approval that includes PSE services.
As a result, PSE may be an out-of-pocket expense for students and families. Families should begin planning for program costs early and should not assume that LRS funding will be available.
PSE is a workforce, non-credit program and is not eligible for federal financial aid. The cost for the first semester is $4,050. The cost for each subsequent semester is $3,300.
Payment plans are available upon request. Payment or payment arrangements must be in place before the first day of classes.
Families who are interested in LRS services are still encouraged to contact LRS as early as possible, as eligibility and service decisions may require documentation, assessments, and review. This process may take up to 90 days. LRS provides vocational rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities in their desire to obtain, maintain, or advance in competitive integrated employment and/or achieve independence in their community. College or University training is often a vital part of that process.
To ensure a productive meeting with LRS, we recommend that you bring the following documents with you when you meet with your LRS counselor for the first time to expedite the processing of your LRS file. (Download the LRS checklist for PSE.)
- Social Security Card
- Picture ID, such as Driver’s license or state issued ID card
- Names and addresses of all doctors, psychologists, clinics or hospitals who are familiar with your disability
- A list of all medications you are currently taking
- A list of any jobs you have had, including the names and addresses of employers and the approximate dates of your employment. Include a description of the kind of work you did, the number of hours worked per week, your salary, and your reason(s) for leaving the job(s).
- The names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses (if available) of at least two (2) people who do not live in your household who will always know how to reach you.
- If you receive SSDI and/or SSI benefits, bring a copy of your current award letter from Social Security.
Please note: LRS is no longer funding PSE as the program is currently structured for new students unless the student already has an active Individualized Plan for Employment or prior approval that includes PSE services. If funding is not secured prior to registration or before the first day of classes, the student’s enrollment may be deferred to the next available semester and/or the student may be placed on the waitlist. Families may also choose to move forward as self-pay. Payment plans are available upon request; however, payment or payment arrangements must be in place before the first day of classes.
